Govt announces guaranteed paddy prices for Yala harvest
The Government has announced the guaranteed prices at which it will purchase paddy from farmers during the 2026 Yala cultivation season, Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe said.
The Government will purchase Nadu paddy at Rs. 120 per kilogram, Samba at Rs. 130 per kilogram, and Keeri Samba at Rs. 140 per kilogram.
The Minister also said the Government has launched a programme to expedite the release of existing rice stocks to the market to ensure adequate supplies for consumers.
