Customs Officers Launch Black Armband Protest

Officers of the Sri Lanka Customs have launched a black armband protest today, citing several unresolved issues, including promotions that have been delayed for six years.

Customs trade unions stated that they resorted to this action after discussions held with the relevant authorities failed to produce a satisfactory outcome.

Accordingly, the officers will continue wearing black armbands in protest for one week starting today.

They further warned that a decision on escalating to stricter trade union action will be taken thereafter.
