Red Alerts Lifted for 15 Divisional Secretariat Divisions, Level 2 Warnings for 8 Districts Remain In Effect
The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has lifted the Level 3 "Red" Alert or Evacuation Notices which was issued for 15 Divisional Secretariat divisions in the Kandy, Matale, Kegalle and Ratnapura Districts.
However, the NBRO says that Level 2 landslide warnings remain in effect for 26 Divisional Secretariat divisions across Badulla, Galle, Kandy, Kegalle,Matale, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura
Residents in these landslide-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant for early signs of landslides.
Meanwhile, Senior Geologist of the NBRO, Wasantha Senadheera, has issued a special warning to motorists and pedestrians using roads that were previously affected due to landslides during Cyclone Ditwah.
Senadheera, emphasized motorists and pedestrians travelling on roads affected during Cyclone Ditwah to exercise extreme caution as there is a risk of earth embankments collapsing onto these roads due to the rains.
