Suspect Arrested in Mapalagama with Foreign-Manufactured Semi-Automatic Firearm

A suspect has been arrested in Mapalagama with a foreign-manufactured semi-automatic firearm resembling a pen.


The arrest was made during a raid conducted by officers of the Nagoda Police, in Galle.

Police stated that the suspect was found in possession of the pen-shaped semi-automatic firearm, along with two live rounds and five used cartridges.

Investigations have revealed that the 23-year-old suspect, a resident of the same area, had previously been remanded for the illegal possession of a firearm.

Police further said that he is also facing drug-related charges.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court today.
