Sri Lanka, India explore expanded industrial and investment cooperation
A high-level business delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) met with Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe in Colombo on Tuesday (13) to discuss expanding industrial, investment and business cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, the delegation included prominent Indian business leaders representing sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, information technology, steel, footwear manufacturing, and industrial tanks and liners.
Senior executives of the CII also participated in the discussions.
The Ministry said the meeting focused on identifying investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, strengthening business-to-business (B2B) partnerships and exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial industrial cooperation.
It further highlighted that attracting foreign investment, facilitating technology and expertise exchange, and expanding market access for local businesses remain key priorities in developing Sri Lanka’s industrial and entrepreneurship sectors.
The Ministry added that continued engagement with organisations such as the CII is expected to strengthen bilateral economic ties, improve Sri Lanka’s investment environment and support long-term industrial development and economic growth.
