The Election Commission announced in an Extraordinary Gazette Notification yesterday (8), evening that Ajith Kumara Mannapperuma, is to replace Ranjan Ramanayake in Parliament as an MP for Gampaha District.
The Gazette Notification confirms that this move was made to fill the vacancy created by the loss of Ranjan Ramanayake’s seat.
Serjeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando told Ceylon Today that if the Gazette Notification is presented to the Secretary-General of Parliament and the Serjeant-at-Arms, he will be sworn in as an MP today (9).
