Second Shooter in Akuregoda Double Murder Arrested
The second shooter allegedly involved in the brutal assassination of attorney Buddhika Mallawarachchi and his spouse inside a vehicle near a supermarket in Akuregoda has been arrested.
The suspect, along with two others, were arrested by Monaragala Police while hiding in a deserted house in Nakkala, Monaragala.
Police confirmed that further investigations into the suspect are underway.
One of the primary shooters involved in the shooting incident was arrested earlier.
Additionally, two suspects who have transported the firearms and one suspect who coordinated the logistics were previously detained.
Meanwhile, Internal police sources revealed that the identification of the shooters and accomplices involved in the murder of Lawyer Buddhika Mallawarachchi and his spouse has been carried out through a highly technical operation supported by international assistance.
Authorities have identified two individuals known as "Karandeniya Sudda" and "Tutu" as the masterminds behind the double murder.
An international operation is currently active to locate and extradite the suspects from the country where they are believed to be hiding.
The main shooter of the Akuregoda murder who was arrested in Delduwa was also arrested as a result of a highly technical operation.
It was that revealed that "Karandeniya Sudda" had communicated with him approximately 83 times via WhatsApp to coordinate the murder.
During interrogation, the shooter admitted a T-56 assault rifle was used to murder the lawyer first and then to shoot the spouse.
