'A Nation United' National Operation to Eradicate Drug Menace Launches in Central Province
'A Nation United' nationwide operation, aimed at eradicating the drug menace from the country, will launch its program focused on the Central Province in Nuwara Eliya this afternoon.
The event will be presided over by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The use of narcotics and other illegal substances has been identified as a key social issue within the up-country community.
Accordingly, the "Ratama Ekata" A Nation United operation has been established to rescue the community from the drug menace through the launch of a broad, multi-stakeholder awareness mechanism, ultimately empowering them socially and economically.
As part of today's launch, 62 police officers who played a pivotal role in drug-related raids and enforcement will be officially commended for their service.
