Gang War Suspected in Nawinna Shooting
A shooting reported on Wednesday (7) night in Nawinna, Maharagama is suspected to be linked to a clash between organized criminal gangs, according to police sources.
The attack occurred while a 28-year-old man from Kalubowila was traveling on a motorcycle.
Two unidentified assailants, also on a motorcycle, opened fire and fled the scene immediately.
The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.
Police believe the weapon used in the attack was a pistol-type firearm.
Investigations are underway to determine the motive and identify the suspects, with initial leads pointing to possible gang-related violence.
