
Over 18,000 metric tons of Salt imported
A total of 18,163 metric tons of salt has been imported into Sri Lanka between May 22 and June 7, as part of measures to address the salt shortage, NewsFirst reported.
According to the report, the total value of the imported salt amounts to Rs. 1,291 million. Of this, Rs. 571 million has already been spent.
The government had earlier announced plans to import 30,000 metric tons of salt to stabilize the domestic market and ensure adequate supply.
